Background
The Madison Zine Fest is an event celebrating zines held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Book Festival.
The Madison Zine Fest was founded in 2004 by Alycia Sellie when she was a UW-Madison School of Library and Information Studies graduate student. Sellie directed the first two years of the fest, 2004 and 2005, with tremendous success attracting between 500-1,000 people.
In 2006, Michelle Downer, owner of the now defunct Echo Zine Distro and UW-Madison School of Library and Information Studies graduate student took over the direction of the fest. In 2006, Over 1,200 people attended and 50+ tablers traded and sold their zines.A generous, engaged, and dedicated group of volunteers help plan and run the fest.
